Important Message from Mr. Marko - Fall 2025 Testing

Posted Date: 10/08/25 (1:47 PM)

October 8, 2025

Good afternoon students and families,

This year we will administer the PSAT/NMSQT to students in grades 10 and 11 as part of our comprehensive assessment system on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. The PSAT provides us with meaningful data regarding student progress toward our SAT School Day performance based graduation requirement, and helps to inform our Reading and Math intervention process.

We will also administer the NWEA MAP reading test to students in grade 9. The test, which is on the same platform as our middle school district assessments, is administered digitally, and students will be provided with school Chromebooks for the testing period.

Fall 2025 testing - Wednesday, October 22nd:

Grade 9

All freshmen will sit for the NWEA MAP benchmark assessment in reading on the morning of October 22nd.

Grade 10

All sophomores will sit for the PSAT/NMSQT on the morning of October 22nd.

Grade 11

All juniors will sit for the PSAT/NMSQT on the morning of October 22nd.

Grade 12

Seniors will be excused from school on October 22nd to engage in college visits and  postsecondary planning.

Schedule

Wednesday, October 22nd is an early dismissal day for students.   Students will not be participating in classes after the testing and buses will run at the regular 12:35pm dismissal time.

Freshmen

All ninth grade students will be assigned to a testing room.  They will receive an email from Mr. Marko on Monday, October 20, 2025 and another on the morning of the testing.  These emails will include their room assignment and instructions for the testing.  On this date, students will be taking the MAP reading test, which is an untimed.  They will be provided as much time as they need to finish. Following the testing period, all ninth graders will be participating in a to be determined educational activity.

Sophomores and Juniors

Sophomores and Juniors will be completing the PSAT/NMSQT.  Student room assignments for the PSAT will be sent in the days before the test by Mr. Sobolewski.  All students who have received prior approval from the College Board will be assigned those accommodations.  Note that students who receive extended time through a College Board approved accommodation no longer need to wait the entire time, using every minute of the extended time.  They can advance to the next section early, as long as the standard time equivalent has elapsed.

The PSAT/NMSQT runs on an app from the College Board called Bluebook.  All tenth and eleventh grade students attempted to download this app on Wednesday, October 1st.  Those who were able to download the app can take the test on their personal devices.  Those who could not download the app will be provided a school Chromebook on test day.  For those students bringing their own device, please make sure that it is fully charged.  Please remember, all students in 10th and 11th grade will need to bring a writing utensil, a calculator, and snacks to be eaten during breaks.  For more information about what students should and should not bring to a PSAT administration, please refer to this list from the College Board.  Following the test, students will have an opportunity to work on their portfolios until all rooms have completed the test.

All students should arrive at school on time as the testing session will begin promptly at 8:20am. Students who arrive late may not be able to enter a testing room that has already started.

Thank you,

Joshua Marko

Assistant Principal
