World Languages Department

Welcome to World Languages at Wilton High School!

The World Languages Department fosters global awareness, cultural appreciation, and effective communication in an interconnected world.

Key Benefits of Language Study

  • Cultural Insight: Explore global cultures, histories, and societal structures through an authentic lens.

  • Self-Reflection: Gain a deeper understanding of your own language and culture by comparing them with others.

  • Skill Development: Build strong, adaptable communication skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Core Program Objectives Students will develop the ability to:

  • Comprehend Spoken Language: Understand native speakers across various contexts.

  • Read Fluently: Read diverse texts with confidence, accuracy, and enjoyment.

  • Write Effectively: Express ideas clearly and accurately in written form.

  • Speak Proficiently: Engage in conversational and academic speech with clarity.

Keep in mind that achieving language proficiency is directly tied to a student's dedication and the amount of time and effort they invest.

The table to the right indicates which languages are taught, which sequences are offered, and which electives may be selected. Actual courses scheduled depend on sufficient enrollment. Please check the Program of Studies for more information.
